Quote Of The Day – Mater, Cars, Cars 2

Words by Naomi Jeffreys

Cars and Cars 2 were two of Disney-Pixar films most financially viable films. With its great mix of characters, speed, big name stars and cars. This film can appeal to everyone.

Cars starred Owen Wilson (Zoolander), Bonnie Hunt (Jumanjii) and Tony Shaloub (Monk). And was directed by John Lasseter (Toy Story 2). With a budget of $120 million, the film has grossed a staggering $461,983,149 worldwide.

Cars 2 was also a box office success, which had a budget of $200 million, grossed $559,852,396 worldwide.

Perhaps the funniest character in both Cars and Cars 2 is Tow Mater, who is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy (Tooth Fairy 2), the dim witted, rusty old car, who has all of the funniest lines. And is an endearing and wonderful creation. Who is at the centre of Cars 2 and, in a sense, becomes a protagonist of the film.

Check out these quotes from Mater below:

Mater: [after Lightning loses the case and is sentenced to repair the road] Hey, I know this may be a bad time right now, but you owe me $32,000 in legal fees.
Lightning McQueen: What?

Mater: We’ll talk later, Mater… hehe – later, Mater – that’s funny!

Cars 2

Finn McMissile: My apologies, I haven’t properly introduced myself. Finn McMissile, British intelligence.
Mater: Tow Mater, average intelligence.

Holley Shiftwell: So Mater, it’s voice-activated. But, you know, everything’s voice-activated these days.
Mater: What? I thought you’s supposed to be making me a dee-sguise.
Mater’s Computer: Voice recognized. Disguise program initiated.

Quote Of The Evening – Harry Potter Series, Ron Weasley

Words by Naomi Jeffreys

We all love a bit of Harry Potter, it’s fantastical, magical and very successful.

Perhaps the funniest character was Ronald Weasley portrayed by Rupert Grint, he was a character who always got the best one liners and who would give the audience some comic relief in amongst the gathering dark around Harry Potter himself.

Check out these quotes below:

Ron: [sitting bolt upright in bed] Spiders… the spiders… they want me to tap-dance. And I don’t want to tap-dance!
Harry: You tell those spiders, Ron.
Ron: Yeah, tell them… I’ll tell them…
[falls straight back asleep]

Ron Weasley: [about Hermione’s copy of “The Tales Of Beedle The Bard”] Mum used to read those to me as a kid! “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot,” “Babbity Rabbity And Her Cackling Stump”…
[Harry and Hermione both look lost]
Ron Weasley: Come on! Babitty Rabbity… No?
