Les Misérables

Words by Naomi Jeffreys

Les Misérables is the eagerly anticpated film adaptation of the novel by Victor Hugo and the highly successful stage show, which has captured theatre goers everywhere. With its catchy tunes, drama, love and many other elements, this could be a big blockbuster of 2012 / 2013.

It has a number of big name stars, including Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter and Eddie Redmayne are set to play the famous roles.

Directed by Tom Hooper (The Kings Speech), it is an eagerly anticipated film. the budget is as yet unknown, but you can bet your bottom dollar it is in the millions.

However, by casting actors who are not neccessarily known for their musical theatre prowess, will it be well recieved by critics, and audiences alike? True, Hugh Jackman has a musical theatre background, but, will it be another Mamma Mia! disaster? With the excruciating singing of Pierce Brosnan?

We can only wait and see, such is the beauty of film..
