Everyone, at one point or another has been an outsider, a person not part of the ‘clique’ in secondary school, or a new employee at work, just learning the ropes.
Well, writers Damon Beesley and Iain Morris tapped in to that social outsider, in the phenomenally successful sitcom, The Inbetweeners. Which was broadcast from 2008 to 2010.
Viewers followed Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Jay (James Buckley) at school, chasing girls, trying to get in to cool parties – and generally failing at all three.
Well, in the Summer of 2011, The Inbetweener boys hit the big screen, in The Inbetweeners Movie. Which followed the boys in a holiday in Crete, before they went off to University. The film was a huge success and grossed £45,028,695 worldwide. And with a budget of 3,500,000 the boys dun good.
So, here are our quotes of the day from The Inbetweeners Movie;
Will McKenzie: “So smelling like an industrial accident in a Lynx factory and looking like the world’s shittest boyband, we hit the town.”
Will McKenzie: That’s it! Neil, you’re right. It may not be paradise, but it’s time we started enjoying this place for what it is.
Simon Cooper: A shithole?
Will McKenzie: Yes, but it’s our shithole! So I say, we get out there, and get royally fucked up on Jay’s dead grandad’s money!
