“Oh, we’ll remember this night when we’re old and grey
Cause in the future these will be the good ol’ days” The Script
There are often moments in films, in music, in theatre, where we can reminisce. Nostalgia. Everyone has films they can watch more than once, and which are cherished because of the memories which they evoke.
Perhaps the genre which most evokes nostalgia is The Golden Era. It was a simpler time in film, studio sets were the main deal, big name actors were at its centre. It was a glorious era of film. Did the filmmakers and actors know that these were timeless films? Did they know that in years to come, their names would be cemented in cinema history?
Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, James Stewart, Donna Reed, Celia Johnson, Trevor Howard, Rita Hayworth, Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn are just a few of the hundreds of actors who have formed some of the greatest films in cinema history.
