“I was always told, don’t do this, you can’t do that—instead of stopping me, it made me think, I can do that, I must do that,” he said.” Omar Sy
As humans we often underestimate just how good we are, often we are told ‘you can’t do this’, ‘I don’t believe in you’, ‘you’re not talented enough’. And, of course it can knock our confidence, but most of the time, by someone telling us we can’t, it often spurs us to prove that we can and that we will regardless of what anyone else thinks.
This is true to films, quite often directors, writers and producers have to fight to get their films made, because someone is telling them that they can’t. But quite often, they push past the prejudice and skepticism and consequently prove that their films have a voice and a point for the audience. And are quite often, a financial and critical success
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy”
